Parents In Partnership
We welcome parents and carers into Robert Wilkinson Primary School believing we are partners in the education of your children. We hope that parents will always feel welcome in the school and will feel able to contact us to discuss any worries or concerns.
There are many opportunities for parents to become involved in the work of the school and to gain a greater understanding of its work. Parents’ time and expertise can be used in many ways in school and is greatly valued. Police checks and CRB checks are carried out on all adults helping in school. If you are ever able to help, especially on a regular basis please contact your child’s teacher.
Parents are informed of their children's attainments in the Year 2 and Year 6 assessments. The results of other assessments help to form the basis of information given to parents, about their children's progress at parents' evenings and in annual reports.
Parents' Evenings are held twice a year and parents are encouraged to visit the school to discuss their child's progress with the teacher. At the end of the year parents will receive a written report summarising progress throughout the year and indicate the targets to work towards in the future.
Volunteer Helpers In School
These are parents, grandparents and other friends (both male and female) of the school who commit time, energy and enthusiasm to working with individual children, groups and classes. Their support is highly valued by staff, children and parents. Volunteers help in a number of ways.
- Supporting children with difficulties under the guidance of our Special Needs Teacher
- Helping with specific activities (such as swimming or football) under the guidance and supervision of class teachers
- Sharing a special talent (such as painting, pottery, needlework or music) with children
- Offering general support in classes
- Supporting the school in other ways (maintaining an area of the school, such as the library, looking after resources, helping with decoration or maintenance.)
All volunteers who help on a regular basis have received police clearance as well as guidance from the school to help them work effectively and safely with children. Parents may expect that their child will at some time work with a volunteer helper in one or more of the situations described above. We welcome new Volunteer Helpers; if you would like to help in school, please let your child's teacher know so that we can arrange a suitable placement for you.
Communication With Parents/Carers
The school communicates with parents/carers in various ways e.g. weekly newsletters and questionnaires. Information is also placed on the website.
