Welcome to Robert Wilkinson VC Primary School

 Behaviour And Discipline

We have high expectations of our children's behaviour.  Pupils at Robert Wilkinson should behave well at all times.  The behaviour of most of our children is good and we want it to remain so.

We have established a set of Behaviour Guidelines for children.  The aim of these is to set out clearly exactly how we expect our children to behave in (and out) of school.  We have tried to make these guidelines positive rather than negative, so they are DOs, not DON'Ts.  We believe that, if children follow this guidance, they will behave in an acceptable way at all times.  The foundation of all our rules is CARE - for ourselves, for each other and for the environment.

CARE means:         Consider

                                   And

                                   Respect

                                   Everyone

This is the message that we will promote - all children will be told of the rules through assemblies and classwork.  Rules will be displayed around school, and we will show children what they mean in terms of behaviour.

·          We will support and encourage good behaviour and positive attitudes through a system of Behaviour and Achievement Awards.

·          We will reward special achievements with Achievements Awards, presented in a special assembly.

·          Staff will seek opportunities to praise and reward good behaviour.

When children misbehave, appropriate punishments will be used, and parents will be involved where a child's behaviour or attitude causes concern.

Bullying

We recognise that incidents of bullying will occasionally arise in school and that we must deal effectively and quickly with them when they occur.

When bullying takes place, we will take action to support and help the victim and to ensure that the bullying stops immediately.  We will also seek to help the perpetrator of the bullying in order to change his/her behaviour so that he/she does not go on to bully other children.

As part of the normal teaching programme, issues relating to children's personal and social development will be addressed from time to time.  We will include activities to help develop children's self-esteem and discussion of important issues, such as bullying.

IT IS IMPORTANT THAT CHILDREN CAN FEEL CONFIDENT ABOUT TELLING STAFF WHEN THEY ARE BEING BULLIED.  THEY CAN BE SURE THAT APPROPRIATE ACTION WILL BE TAKEN.
