About the School
Robert Wilkinson School is a Voluntary Controlled Primary School because of its links with the Robert Wilkinson Trust and the Robert Wilkinson Charity for the School. It has no particular affiliation to any church. As a Primary School, we provide education for both boys and girls between the ages of 4 and 11.
The school was founded in 1718 by an endowment in the will of a yeoman farmer from Strensall named Robert Wilkinson. Throughout its long history the school has grown with the village, moving to its current site in 1972 and continuing to expand to the present.
We are proud of our history and, despite its size; the Robert Wilkinson Primary remains very much a village school.
The Robert Wilkinson Charity for the School
We continue to benefit from the legacy of Robert Wilkinson through the Wilkinson Charity, which is managed by the Robert Wilkinson Trust. This charity helps the school enormously in many ways. Members of the Trust serve on the school's Governing Body and we are grateful for their help and support, which has been so significant in the development of the school. The school enjoys extensive facilities, including and indoor swimming pool funded by the Trust.
I am sure you will enjoy your visit to our website. Robert Wilkinson VC Primary is a school that values standards and achievement. We are extremely proud of what goes on here. As our website demonstrates, the children at Robert Wilkinson VC Primary School are supported in their learning by dedicated staff, governors and parents.
